What is Snips?

There are moments we want to share while they are happening, and others we want to hold onto long after they are gone. Snips is being built around both.

Snips is a new web-based social platform focused on stories, memories, and genuine connection. At its core, Snips is designed to give people a simple and personal way to share parts of their day, express themselves, stay connected with the people they care about, and create a collection of moments they can look back on over time.

Instead of trying to be everything at once, Snips is being built with a clear focus: stories first.

On Snips, the content you share becomes part of your everyday presence. A photo, a short video, a quick update, or a small moment from your day can become a Snip. These moments are meant to feel immediate and natural — something you can share without needing to turn every post into a permanent, highly polished piece of content.

But Snips is also about more than simply posting something and moving on.

We want the platform to feel like a place where moments can become memories. That is why we are carefully developing features that allow users to revisit and organize the stories they have shared over time. Through archive-related tools, users will be able to keep track of past Snips privately and return to moments that may have otherwise disappeared from view.

Connection will also play an important role throughout the platform.

When someone shares a Snip, other users will be able to interact with it in simple and familiar ways. You may be able to show appreciation for a moment, respond directly to what someone has shared, or continue the conversation privately. We call these interactions Snips Replies — a more personal way to respond directly to someone’s story and turn a shared moment into a conversation.

Private messaging will further allow users to stay connected beyond individual Snips. Our goal is to make conversations feel like a natural extension of the stories people are already sharing, rather than making the platform feel disconnected between public sharing and private communication.

Every person on Snips will also have their own account and identity within the platform. Users can expect unique usernames, personal profiles, account features, privacy controls, and other tools that help make their presence on Snips feel like their own.

We understand that a username can become an important part of someone’s online identity, which is why we want usernames on Snips to feel meaningful, recognizable, and personal. As the platform develops, accounts will serve as the foundation for your Snips, conversations, memories, and connections.

The experience itself is being designed specifically for the web, while still feeling smooth, modern, and familiar to people who are used to mobile social applications. We want Snips to feel responsive, easy to understand, and enjoyable whether you are checking someone’s latest story, replying to a friend, revisiting an archived memory, or simply seeing what the people around you have been sharing.

We are also being intentional about not revealing everything just yet.

There are additional ideas, experiences, and features being developed behind the scenes that will shape how Snips works and what makes it different. Rather than introducing everything at once, we want to take the time to build the platform carefully and make sure the experience feels cohesive from the moment people begin using it.

What you can expect is a platform centered around sharing moments, creating memories, and connecting with people — with features such as personal accounts, unique usernames, Snips, archived stories, Snips Replies, private messages, profile tools, and more.

Most importantly, Snips is being built to feel simple.

Social platforms can easily become crowded with features, complicated navigation, and content competing for attention. Our intention with Snips is to create something more focused: a place where opening the platform immediately brings you closer to the people and moments you care about.

A place to see what someone is doing.

A place to share what is happening in your own life.

A place to respond, talk, remember, and come back later.

And a place where the little moments can matter just as much as the big ones.

Snips is currently in development, and we’re carefully working on creating a thoughtful, reliable, and enjoyable platform for everyone who joins us.
